I cant take nice pictures?

I love taking pictures but I can never take a nice picture of me that comes out nice seriously I have to go through like 20 frames to find one perfect shot of me I’ve had people tell me I’m very pretty. sometimes I look at myself in the mirror and I look ok but when I take the picture I always end up coming out weird. Does anybody have any tips for me on how to take nice pictures without making those kissy faces and piece signs I don’t do that or smile when you show your teeth cuz I have braces. I just want my pictures to come out simple yet nice anybody have any tips? i would really appreciate it=]

I cant take nice pictures?
For one thing, you have a self image issue, as a guess. Second, try different poses in a mirror to achieve the right expression. It's all about your interaction with the camera, as if it were a person you can talk to. This interaction is more difficult if you are the one taking the photo as you can't have an interaction with yourself, unless of course you're crazy. If that's the case, I've got nothing. Or, maybe you should have your photo taken by someone else, someone you feel comfortable with enough to drop your self image issue with yourself and BE yourself in front of a camera. There's nothing "special" you could do, it's a camera. It sees what is in front of it and records it. Braces or not, if you're confident in yourself, you'll look good in a picture taken by a crappy camera phone. There's no amount of advice that can be given on that. That's all you.
Reply:This is what I have to say (I can't take great picture of myself, either) Just take a picture of you, if you like it show it to somebody. Somebody you really don't know, maybe somebody on the street? Just ask them "What do you think of this picture"?
Reply:oh, i'm sure you look fine. you just notice your own flaws more in a picture.
Reply:ok...NO ONE can take good pics of themselves...you pretty much just don't like 99% of any pictures of you. Its just because its of you, everyone is critical of their own looks.
Reply:I agree with the above answers... to an extent...

You are experiencing first hand why REAL professional portrait photographers are SKILLED people who deserve to be paid well for what they do.

Ever been in a true pro photo studio? Seen all the lights and tripods and reflectors? They are not just for show. Do you think you can duplicate that type of soft, even, flattering light with your on camera flash? No way!

Also, knowing how to USE those lights is important. Just which side of the face to light can make a big difference in how you look. Where your eyes are looking, how your head is tilted, if the camera is taking the photo from a straight or high level... so many things go into making "a good picture"

Plus, a pro photographer, (or at least *I* will), should spend plenty of time with you to get you at ease and make the whole thing fun! My portrait lens allows me to be at a distance from the subject so the camera is not stuck in their face. I have even let my subject take fun photos of ME to help break the ice and get them involved. Plus, when they see how stupid *I* look, they always feel lots better about how THEY look! lol

So why am I telling you all this? Because you may NEVER get a nice picture trying to take one of yourself, or even having some friend do it. Get some bucks together and do yourself a favor and have a real pro do some in studio photos for you.

You will be amazed just how good you really DO look!

My best to you,

steve
Reply:its could be how your posing relivant to the caremra turn your body at a 45 degrees to camera but look at camera and slightly lower and lighting use flash if you have to

Reply:The reason why people never like photos of themselves is because they are seeing themselves as other people see them rather than how they see themselves in a mirror. You arent used to seeing yourself in this way so, therefore, you think you look different or "bad"
