Okay, so here is the deal. I brush my teeth, I even use Listerine. But I'm betting because of my constant sugar intake, and the fact that I haven't seen a dentist in 4 years (no insurance, and can't afford it without), my teeth have decided to decay. Here are pictures of several of my teeth. http://i26.tinypic.com/2m5ff2p.jpg What I want to know is, will the dentist be able to fix this (whenever I can finally go) and will it cause problems down the road?
Please no "eww gross" comments please. I already feel depressed and embarrassed about it enough.
Decaying teeth?
well, here are my answers to your questions.
1) yes, by the looks of those photos, your affected teeth should be fixable...but to be 100% sure, your dentist might need to take some x-rays to determine the extend of those decays. If the decay is not very deep, white fillings (composite fillings) will be done, but if the decay is deep root canal might be needed. I suggest you to go asap, don't wait until the decay go so bad that all your dentist could do is either root canal or extraction on those teeth. Coz by then it will become very costly.
2)As far as any problems down the road, I would say not much I could think of if you get it fix by the dentist soon. White fillings if done well could last about 10 years. One thing you got to watch out is if you plan to have your teeth whitened, do it before you have those teeth filled/fixed.
3) This is my personal observation, that I think you might be interested for your futher use. I have notice from your photos that all of your decay areas are near the gum-line. That indicates your toothbrushing technique didn't fully cover those areas well enough, resulting in plaque accumulation. Try to use floss and pay more attention in cleaning those areas when you are brushing your teeth. You can also ask your dental hygenist or dentist to show you how to remove plaque in those areas.
Hope it helps!
Reply:they can fix it if you get to a dentist soon
Reply:that looks painful!!!
i am not sure what it is, maybe a bad cavity? specially because you say you have a constant sugar intake. I am sure the dentist can help, hope everything works out for you! on the plus side, your teeth are nice and white. :)
Reply:i used to have bad teeth too but i finally went to the dentist and they fixed my decaying tooth!!
if you can't afford it, if you live the west coast, go to western dental and they will give you a flexible plan where you can pay monthly. and if you don't, then go to a HMO dentist and ask them if you can make monthly installments.
and with your teeth, they'll probably give you lumineers. they're going to clean your teeth, drill out the decaying part, then fill it up with something. =]
Reply:I would definitely get it fixed and yes, if you don't, it will cause problems down the road. Good luck sweetie. It's worth it to get fixed, do whatever it takes to get the money.
Reply:Yeah, go get started with the work. If you can't cut down on sugar, then rinse your teeth thoroughly with a hot drink like tea (to help clean the crevises) afterward and brush. You have a several thousand dollar gift in your mouth. Start taking care of it to shortstop the problems down the road.
Reply:Ok heres the deal. If you think you dont have the money now to go it is going to cost 1000's of dollars later when it gets so bad you are forced to go. There is this credit card called care credit. Go to carecredit.com for more info. People with even minimal amounts of credit can get some. Most dentists take this card. So try it out and see what happens.
Reply:stop drinking acidic stufff and stop eating so much junk!
stick to healthy foods that are good for your teeth!
brush, floss, and use mouthwash atleast twice a day so the decaying won't get worse!
and when you finally see your dentise i'm sure theyll be able to fix it!
good luck !
Reply:You can't afford not to go. Do you realize that bad teeth affect the health of your body? Some of these decays when they get down to the root can actually kill you if left untreated. There are dentists out there that take payments and others that are willing to work with you overtime. Take care of the bad ones now and then fix the rest overtime.
You really need to see a dentist now before the decay reaches the root and believe me you will now because the pain is so bad you will be willing to yank your own tooth out to ease the pain. It is horrid. I have had 2 absessed teeth before and they are not fun. I lost one because of pregnancy and everytime I would get into the dentist chair I would go into labor and they wouldn't touch me-ha.
So so very important to take care of your teeth. There isn't much they can't do these days.

Reply:Yes they will be able to fix it.
Try to get to a dentist with whom you can have a payment plan.
